ADDITION - FULLARTON SOUTH AUSTRALIA
A modern master bedroom suite and outdoor entertaining area addition to the rear of a traditional sandstone fronted bungalow. The brief included rejuvenation of a 1970’s brown brick lean to addition at the rear of the bungalow and refurbishment of an internal bathroom. A large opening was formed between the existing bungalow internal kitchen and dining space and the rejuvenated living space, allowing natural light to enter the middle section of the bungalow.
The building includes the following sustainable design elements:
Lightweight timber construction with high insulation levels
Double glazing in Australian hardwood timber window frames
Skillion roof form with high level venting
Generous natural lighting & cross ventilation
Evaporative cooling
Whole of house rainwater retention and reuse
The palette of materials includes:
Weathertex hardwood cladding, painted finish
Australian hardwood vertical cladding and new flooring
Recycled bridge hardwood posts and re used rafters for exposed frame
· Danpalon translucent roof sheeting to the outdoor entertaining area
